Prototype Planner

When to use it

Use this tool to plan out your prototyping approach and tasks.

What’s the purpose

This template helps you to create an action plan for developing your ideas into prototypes and testing them with real users.

How to do it

  1. For each idea that you want to prototype, write down:
    • Which team member will be responsible for creating it
    • What the idea is
    • Which prototyping method will be used
    • Who you will get feedback from and by when

Tips

  • It can be helpful to collaborate with others to flesh out your prototypes. Try pairing up team members to tackle each one.
  • Get inspired from the method list: have fun making a virtual moodboard, communicate through a poster, write a press release, practise an elevator pitch narrate a storyboard, prototype GUI mock-ups, create sacrificial concepts, map out a user journey, design a service blueprint...
  • Do not hesitate to bring the action list back into your work calendar.

In day-to-day work

Having a prototype plan will help you divide and conquer the workload. This will help distribute the work across team members and that you avoid duplication, wasted effort, and information dead ends. Grab a few colleagues and spend 15 minutes using this tool to help you create a quick plan to ensure you know what methods you’ll use, whom you will speak to and who is responsible… and, of course, by when you need to get this done.
